Joyce Champe, age 83, of Clarksville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Focused Care of Clarksville. Mrs. Champe was born, September 10, 1935, in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, the daughter of Wilfred and Lydia Will Helwig. She was a graduate of East Texas Baptist College and taught Elementary School in the Clarksville Independent School District. She met her husband, Amick Champe while sitting next to him in Chapel at college. They later married in 1960. Mrs. Champe was a member of the First Baptist Church. Her husband, Rev. Amick Champe and her parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Jonathan Champe of Clarksville, Steve Champe and wife, Barbara of Clarksville and Timothy Champe and wife, Amy of Friendswood; two daughters, Ruth Brown and husband, Danny of Bogata and Amy Clark and husband, Jon of Ft. Worth; two brothers, Stanley Helwig of Clarksville and Elton Helwig of Dallas; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her extended family, Mickey Blaine Womack; and her special caregivers, Vella Mae Scales, Alice Perry, Judy Holt and Lexi Overly.
Funeral services are set for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Gossett officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends an hour before service time at the church.
Pallbearers are Danny Brown, Dorsey Reichert, Trenton Lee and Blaine Womack.
